Kidnapped by armed guerrillas on the Colombian border, he's held hostage in the jungle for nine months. 34-year-old Holly Sheldon, a seasoned backpacker from London, is traveling in South America when she persuades her mother, Jenny, to join her on the last leg of her trip to Bolivia. They become the latest victims of a kidnapping gang who prey on unsuspecting tourists.

Iran
After his mother's death, Aidan sets off on an 11,000-mile cycle ride from England to Australia. When Aidan reaches Iran, he meets two German cyclists, David and Oliver. Together, they ride towards the Pakistan border. On their fifth day, a convoy of vehicles filled with men wielding AK-47s and claiming to be members of Al-Qaeda, force them off the road and into the boot of a car.

West Papua
After college, Daniel Start travels to West Papua to study rare plants and animals. Papuan tribal warriors kidnap him in the hopes of creating headlines around the world to highlight their fight for independence from the Indonesian government.

Liberia
Doctor Mike Roe and nurse Sara Nam meet while working at a charity hospital in Liberia. A civil war has ravaged the country, leaving many without food, water or medicine. Defeated soldiers who fled across the border to Guinea are starting to regroup. Their aim is to seize power from the Liberian government. A gang of drug-fueled child soldiers attacks the hospital and take Mike and Sara hostage
