A single-camera comedy series about Riley Veatch, a sarcastic, street-smart teen runaway whose search for her birth mother brings her to the doorstep of her aunt in a small Northern California town. Her uptight Aunt Opal is a lonely high school administrator. Underneath Opal's cold exterior is a vulnerable woman who benefits from Riley's influence as these two semi-lost souls forge a bond based on their needs for love and family -- although neither one is likely to admit it. Riley narrates the series. Other characters include Gossett High School's assistant principal Mitch Levitt, the object of Opal's unrequited affection; A.J. Swartz, the clueless office assistant; and Lisa Overbeck, a sweet, idealistic teacher at Gossett High.
