The May family lives the usual madness between stress at work, teenage problems and a domineering mother-in-law. Only mother Elli seems to keep an overview of everything - if there wasn't one catch: Elli died four months ago. Even after her death, she is still present in family life with countless messages.

Elli didn't see this coming: her eldest son Lennart has been locking himself in his room for months, her daughter shaves her head in a knee-jerk reaction, and the youngest sneaks out of the house at night to water his mother's grave. Desperate, Tobias looks for advice and finds it in a webcam girl.

Ellis' son Lennart hasn't left his room for months - and now he's uploaded a violent video to the internet. His teacher has always supported him, but now she feels compelled to report him to the headmaster. Tobias asks her to talk to the teenager again and it soon becomes clear that there's more to his isolation than just grief. Lennart was the only one in the family who knew Ellis's last secret.

Tobias is completely confused: Lennart is back in the family's life after months, as if nothing had happened. He also makes no secret of the fact that he doesn't think well of his dead mother. But why? Tobias needs distraction and invites Ellis' best friend Kati to go out with him one evening. What Tobias doesn't suspect is that Kati has more than just friendly feelings for Tobias...

Till's book "Harbor Dogs" has been published. There is to be a reading in Elli and Kati's bookshop. The cover has a dedication: "For Elli - who I will always love." When Elli's husband Tobias gets his hands on the book, the affair between Till and Elli threatens to be exposed... Meanwhile, 13-year-old Lisa develops feelings for her friend Henni, but her mom's videos are not helpful: she only gives her advice on first love for a boy.

After his confrontation with Till, Tobias collapses with a panic attack. Kati looks after him and finds herself in a dilemma: she didn't actually want to lie for Elli, but she also doesn't have the heart to tell Tobias the whole truth. Meanwhile, Lennart takes a daring step with his teacher Yasmin, Lisa tries to hide her feelings for Henni and Grandma Babsi may have found a new friend...

Ellis' father Rainer is overwhelmed by the situation: he has not yet come to terms with the death of his only daughter and now the birth of his baby is imminent. Too much for the grandfather of three - his heavily pregnant girlfriend finds him unconscious in the living room... Tobias is also suffering and is living more and more in a tunnel. He neglects the children and moves from house to house. 13-year-old Lisa has to take everything.

16-year-old Lennart slowly understands that his teacher does not return his feelings and only sees him as a student who needs help. Out of frustration, he claims that the two are having an affair, which gets her into big trouble. Tobias can no longer get close to his daughter Lisa and realizes that he has let his children down. After a discussion with Ellis' friend Kati, he decides that everything has to change. Can he still save the family?
