In series two we'll catch up the lives of some of our favourites from series one, including single-boater Emma, new parents Jack and Gabby, mum and daughter duo Carrie and Della and the Gould family who live on board Holly The Café boat, as well as meeting a variety of new faces who also live or work on the waterways.

Episode 1

The series that meets the vibrant community who call the UK's canal network home returns. Retired couple Debs and Mick swapped life working on the Underground for a new life cruising on their boat Rosé and Gin. As they travel through Maghull, en-route to Liverpool, they get a reminder of their time on the rails, at the Frank Hornby Heritage Centre, and they tick another Wetherspoons pub off their list. We return to Doncaster to see how newbie boaters Carrie and her mum Della, from series one, are getting on a year later; are they still afloat? And on the Grand Union Canal near Market Harborough, we meet 'bougie hippies' Adam and Lauren and their dog Shanti, as Lauren harvests a crop from their roof garden for lunch, and Adam welcomes guest Louise to the boat, who is contributing to his new book about life on the water. Meanwhile, The Canal and River Trust implement winter stoppages, so that they can see to essential maintenance and repairs on the 200-year-old network.

Adam visits Sorcha on the Tattoo boat, to record his 'humans of the waterways' social media series, and Carrie and Della get busy blacking Carrie's boat. And the Canal and River Trust perform a fish rescue before draining a canal in Wolverhampton so that a new lock gate can be installed.

Adam and Lauren travel towards Milton Keynes on the Grand Union, to collect the first copy of Adam's new book about life on the water. On the Dudley Canal, new couple Julie and Martin discover the history of the network and 'leg it' at the Black Country Museum. And the Canal and River Trust conduct a wildlife survey by canoe on the Kennet and Avon canal.

It's a very big day for Debs and Mick on the Shropshire Union Canal, and a visit to Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker is the icing on the cake. Julie and Martin travel through the Midlands and head closer to Martin's nemesis, the supposedly haunted Harecastle Tunnel. On the Grand Union Canal, Rhianna re-opens the doors to the unique Piano Boat. And, on a Canal and River Trust open day in Wolverhampton, the local community get to walk through a drained lock.

In Rugby, Debs and Mick have lots to celebrate at the end of their summer adventure. Meanwhile, will Rhianna's floating concert be harmonious? And the Canal and River Trust continue their winter maintenance as they install a lock gate in Kings Sutton.

Divorced dad Paul has made a new home on board bespoke boat Violet Mary, which he also uses for work as a recording studio. Paul's sons Sami and Ren help out when a band comes to play. Meanwhile, series one favourite Emma is having another engine disaster. And traditional boat signwriter and artist Andy Russell passes on his tricks of the trade to his daughter Katy.

On the River Stort in Hertfordshire, Paul, Sami and Ren go in search of the perfect location for their towpath festival, but will high water levels scupper their plans? Near Oxford, Nigel and Sue take to a different kind of boat on the River Cherwell, before ending their adventure in the Cotswolds. On the Shropshire Union Canal in Cheshire, Emma attempts the Bunbury Shuffle. And narrowboat signwriter Andy begins work on a new project in his dry dock in Derbyshire.

Emma braves the Manchester Ship Canal solo, before launching into a new project, as she recruits other female boaters to her cause. On the Oxford Canal, Joe Dixon is turning his 72-foot narrowboat into a skippered rental boat, but has a lot of work to do. And in Derbyshire, Andy offers a signwriting class to the local community.

Emma gets busy with her calendar project, and we visit the Forces Veterans Afloat charity near Nottingham, who she's raising funds for, as they renovate a narrowboat as a new home for veteran Jay. Joe's holiday boat, Maddox, receives its final touches and he takes a trip to the boatyard to fill it with fuel and water for her maiden voyage. We meet Iqbal and Sabahat on the Curry Cruiser, who cook up a feast on their way to the Oxford Festival. And boat painter and signwriter Andy Russell continues work on the project boat in his dry dock in Derbyshire.

Emma heads to Nottingham to show off her completed calendar, as veteran Jay takes to the water for the first time as a continuous cruiser. In Oxfordshire, Joe invites guests aboard Maddox for her maiden voyage. And in Derbyshire, Andy's finished the paintwork on the project boat and now needs to deliver it to a mooring. But it's something that he's rarely done; will he manage to do it without damaging his hard work?

The new series continues, as we follow the vibrant community who call the UK's canal network home. In Staffordshire, we meet Andy Hamblin and his cat Hugo, whose boat - Hush - is often photographed by passers-by because of its unique doorway. We join married couple Pat and Jill on sweetie boat - The Pendle Witch - as they cruise the Leeds-Liverpool canal towards a towpath sale. Rachel, James and Joe swap their four-bedroom family home in the Welsh Valleys for a 45-foot narrowboat that James has yet to see. And familiar faces Tracey and Tim have had a successful year with the Accessible Waterways Association that they launched last series, and hope to realise an accessible mooring on the network.

Andy cruises towards the Llangollen for winter and stops off to see Ruth, a familiar face from series 1, who has opened a marina chandlery. Pat and Jill begin a boat makeover before Jill gets off the water and into the sky. Rachel and James shut the door on their bricks and mortar home and take the first steps towards their new adventure. And Tim and Tracey host the first Accessible Waterways Association gathering and it's an opportunity for boaters with disabilities to test the new accessible mooring that they have designed alongside the Canal and River Trust.

On the Leeds-Liverpool canal, Pat and Jill prepare for Halloween as they stock up for a towpath sale. In Thorne, South Yorkshire, Rachel and James take boat Ruby out for the first time, as neighbour Kate gives them a driving lesson. We meet mum Hannah and her teenage son George, who are planning a trip from their narrowboat home mooring in east London to celebrate George starting secondary school. And with the prototype of the accessible mooring a proven hit, the Canal and River Trust have the first one created in their workshop.

The new series continues, as we follow the vibrant community who call the UK's canal network home. Hannah and George take a cruise through east London before mooring up near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where George can visit the skate park. In South Yorkshire, Rachel, James, and son Joe have some help with their list of boat tasks, as they head closer to living the continuous-cruiser lifestyle. We meet The Three Idle Women, a folk group whose songs are based on canal life, who are launching their first album, but there is a lot of work to do first, starting with a towpath rehearsal and a soft launch on the puppet barge in Little Venice, London. And in Birmingham, Tracey and Tim gather a crowd to see the first accessible mooring being established on the towpath.

The Three Idle Women travel over the Dundas Aqueduct as they traverse the Kennet and Avon Canal, rehearsing for the launch of their new album. Photographer Hannah heads out by bike from her boat in east London to capture a familiar face - bike repair man Sam - whose looking for some images to promote his floating business. Near Doncaster, Rachael and James continue their boat renovations, as James creates a unique mural on the side of narrowboat Ruby, before they finally begin their lives as continuous cruisers. And in Birmingham, Tracey and Tim finally see their dream realised, as the Canal and River Trust and Walsall College assist with the official launch of the first accessible mooring.

It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one-third of the time. Good luck, Bill!
