Adapted from the best-selling novel and Academy Award movie, this new family entertainment series tells the story of a rural American family, and stars 12-year- old Lori Martin as Velvet. Velvet uses her ingenuity to save the life of a doomed horse.

The Breaking
Velvet Brown's (Lori Martin) father (Arthur Space) tells her that King is too dangerous. Velvet and Mi James McCallion) try in vain to break the horse, then send him to a professional horse trainer. When they visit the trainer (George Wallace), they find him beating King with a huge bullwhip.

Edwina's Escapade
One of Edwina's ardent swains, Carl, is leaving for two years' service in the Army and takes full advantage of his "going to war" (in peacetime) to Edwina as much as possible. Despite the family rule against weeknight dates, Edwina, with Velvet's knowledge, sneaks out to see Carl on Romance Ridge.

Each episode follows an hour of Dr. Robby's 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital's emergency room.

Dark Matter
