From cars to coffee beans, across the country people and businesses are rushing to make major purchases they were considering or stocking up on staples, trying to lock in prices before tariffs have an effect. NBC News' Erin McLaughlin reports on the rush to buy now or risk paying more later. The South and Midwest brace for more historic rains and severe flooding in a deadly multiday storm system. The 36-hour period from Friday evening into Sunday morning will be the most dangerous, as an additional 6 to 12 inches of rain will fall over already drenched areas. NBC News' Kathy Park reports. President Trump has fired his top official at the National Security Agency, Gen. Timothy Haugh. Far right activist Laura Loomer has taken credit for the firing. Meanwhile, the president has also extended the deadline for the sale of TikTok. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez reports. Actor and comedian Russell Brand has posted a video stating he is innocent of rape and sexual assault charges filed against him by Britain's Crown Prosecution Service. NBC News' Molly Hunter reports. Over the past two days, more than $5 trillion of wealth has been erased from the U.S. stock market as investors react to the tariffs announced by President Trump. China's retaliatory move today sent markets sliding. NBC News' Christine Romans reports. A federal judge ordered the return of a man that the Trump administration said was deported in ‘administrative error' to El Salvador. An immigration judge had ordered his removal from the U.S. in 2019 but granted "withholding of removal to El Salvador." NBC News' Stephanie Gosk reports. Paul and Christy Akeo are back home in Michigan after being detained in a notorious prison in Mexico for a month over a dispute with a timeshare company. After intervention from U.S. officials, the couple and the company reached an agreement and the fraud charges against them were dropped. NBC News' Maggie Vespa spoke to the Akeos who said at times, they feared they might die in prison.
