President Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at dismantling the Department of Education, arguing that shifting money back to the states will improve student test scores. However, fully closing the department requires an act of Congress. NBC's Garrett Haake reports. Three people were charged with using Molotov cocktails against Tesla cars and charging stations. Attorney General Pam Bondi called the attacks "domestic terrorism". The latest wave of protests and violence against Elon Musk's Tesla comes amid a plummet in its share price as the company announced a recall of nearly all its Cybertrucks. NBC News' Liz Kreutz has the story. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the deportation of a Georgetown University researcher, after the Trump administration attempted to remove him from the country. The Department of Homeland Security said he was "actively spreading Hamas propaganda," while his attorney said he did nothing wrong. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez reports. Nearly one year after a container ship crashed into a support pier and brought down Baltimore's Key Bridge, the NTSB says Maryland authorities failed for decades to assess the bridge's vulnerability to a collision. NBC News' Tom Costello reports the NTSB is now recommending 68 other bridges undergo urgent risk assessments, including the Golden Gate Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.
