A shooting in the early morning hours led to a shelter in place order on campus. Incoming first year students were spending the night in dorm rooms during a two day orientation. NBC News' Steve Patterson reports. George Santos reported to a federal prison in New Jersey to begin a 7-year prison sentence, after he pleaded guilty to a laundry list of charges. Shortly after Santos was elected to Congress, press reports began to emerge revealing he wasn't who he claimed to be. Santos was later expelled from Congress. NBC News' Ryan Nobles reports. Southwest Airlines says pilots on board Flight 1496 from Burbank to Las Vegas got two serious warnings at 14,000 feet. The pilots then took immediate action to avoid colliding with another plane. Passengers describe a harrowing scene on board, flying out of their seats. Two flight attendants were injured. NBC News' Tom Costello reports. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch completed his interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted accomplice of notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. President Trump said he has not considered a pardon for Maxwell. NBC News' Kelly O'Donnell reports.  Travel delays are mounting as airports on the east coast experience ground stops due to thunderstorms. Chicago streets were flooded by heavy rain and millions baked in extreme heat with brutal temperatures expected to continue into the weekend. NBC News' Emilie Ikeda reports. In partnership with KFF Health News, NBC News reviewed more than 200 lawsuits against cosmetic surgery chains which include allegations of disfiguring injuries and deaths. Patient Erin Schaeffer says after she went to Sono Bello for a tummy tuck and liposuction, she experienced unbearable pain and ended up with a serious infection. A doctor for Sono Bello told NBC News the company puts patients first and has a number of methods for helping patients through pain. NBC News' Erin McLaughlin reports. There is good news tonight for a 62-year-old woman whose coworkers left her in shock when they threw her a surprise bridal shower. Sheila Williams was left in tears when coworkers surprised her just days before her wedding. Her reaction capturing the attention of millions of viewers who are now pitching in to give her the fairytale wedding of her dreams. Marissa Parra shares her story.
