A child's body is found in the lagoon with rocks in his backpack. Is it death by suicide? Most of the local cops think so but Elena Zonin, called to the case from Rome, has other ideas.

Elena is not trusted at headquarters in Venice as many years ago she took a dangerous risk. Another child has been dangerously drawn in.

Angelo has been caught. Elena goes above Misuri's head to resume the case. Her new team gains knowledge of stolen identities and understand the tough nut they have to crack.

The jailer does his job. Surveillance cameras are providing vital information. Before Elena and Daniele can track a suspect, a destructive blow is delivered.

Elena gains valuable insight into Angelo's personality. She attends a party for one of Daniele's children but flees before the end. Giulia does some investigating of her own.

The team work on building illicit relationships with the abductors. They gain important information. Is it enough to trace the location? Elena takes a foolish risk going solo.

Daniele and the team make a major discovery and head to Milan. A mysterious character who has authority over the whole enterprise enters the stage.

Elena and Daniele are on the cusp of a resolution, but unexpected events call into question the final part of the investigation.
