O Americano - Season 1

Lisbon, 1985. Faustino Cavaco has a car breakdown and attracts the attention of the police. He is hit in an exchange of gunfire and arrested. In prison, he remembers how, in 1980, in the Algarve, he launched himself into the world of business, and met a childhood friend, TonTon, who introduced him to his future partner in crime, the Doctor.

Algarve.1982. Cavaco faces financial difficulties in his carpentry shop. Pressured by debts, he embarks on a series of robberies. Lisbon, 1985. In prison, Faustino's apparent good character and the inconsistencies in his story arouse the suspicions of Inspector Godinho who decides to deepen the investigation into Cavaco's role in the wave of robberies and deaths in the Algarve.

Lisbon Prison Establishment.1985. In prison, Aníbal, the owner of the local café and friend of the bad life, asks Faustino to take responsibility for all the crimes in exchange for a comfortable future for his wife Cristina and his daughter. Algarve. 1982. Faustino remembers the coup that earned him the nickname "The American". Godinho continues the investigation: he does not believe in Faustino's guilt.

Algarve. 1982. The complicity between Faustino and the Doctor grows, making the rest of the gang jealous. Faro Prison. 1985. Cristina and her daughter visit Cavaco in prison. Godinho finds a connection between Faustino and the murder of the tax guards, which occurred a year earlier in the Algarve. He takes you to the crime scene in search of answers. Cavaco remembers what really happened that night.

Algarve. 1984. The police find the bodies of the brutally murdered tax guards. The pressure increases. Ligério, a corrupt PSP, and Aníbal are nervous about the presence of the Judiciary Police. Another death occurs and they are forced to dispatch Ligério. 1985. Faustino is tried, pleads guilty to all crimes and is transferred to the hell of Pinheiro da Cruz.

1985. Pinheiro da Cruz Prison. Faustino meets Raposo and his group. The unexpected arrival of the Doctor, now known as the Scientist, causes surprise. The group begins to come up with an escape plan and Faustino is tasked with introducing a pistol into the prison. The woman, Cristina, does not want to be an accomplice to anything. Algarve. 1984. Faustino celebrates with his family the relaunch of his workshop, thanks to money from scams, when he is surprised by Ligério's return. Crimes accumulate.

Algarve. 1984. Faustino and Doutor, on a night of drinking that goes wrong, are forced to flee the Algarve. 1985. Pinheiro da Cruz Prison. Happiness visits Faustino in prison who asks for his help. A gun is sent into the prison.

1985. Faustino and his gang flee Pinheiro da Cruz, leaving a trail of death and blood. The biggest manhunt ever seen in Portugal begins. Several months later, only Faustino and the Doctor are still at large. Capture is imminent...
