While returning from a late-night tryst, Lord Narihira and his entourage encounter an oxcart traveling toward them — but there's no ox pulling the cart.

After a demon offers him the chance to embrace a woman of "peerless beauty," a lecherous lord comes before Seimei in need of help.

Saying a winged mouse sent her, an elderly servant asks Seimei for help; little Kujo and Lady Fujiko have begun to behave very strangely.

The revengeful spirit of a deceased poet named Tadami has been haunting the area. He's been mostly harmless — until now.

When speaking to Tadami's father, Seimei and Hiromasa find out that Tadami had an encounter with a demon years before succumbing to his death.

Lord Tachibana consults with Ashiya Doman to cure his daughter of her love of insects, but Seimei is skeptical of her remedy.

Hiromasa brings a basket of mushrooms to enjoy with Seimei, whom he finds completely engrossed in identifying some dead green insects.

While watching over Seimei, Hiromasa sees visions of his dear friend's childhood and the torment he endured for being so different and gifted.

Lady Tsuyuko suspects an unlikely person of being the half demon. Seimei faces off against Ashiya Doman to see who the better Onmyoji is.

Much to everyone's annoyance, Seimei has been visiting members of the imperial court in the middle of the night in search of the demon who attacked him.

A drastic — and revealing — change comes over Atsumi. As Seimei struggles to accept recent events, Yasunori brings him an object that gives him hope.

With Ashiya Doman's assistance, Seimei begins the Lord Taizan Ceremony. The familiar sound of a flute rings out.

As dark forces consume Atsumi, he has flashbacks to the long and enduring friendship he shared with Hiromasa.
