Our School - Season 3

We meet new Year 7 students Olivia and Abdul, who are about to start their first day at Firth Park Academy in Sheffield. Abdul has an older sister at the school who is on hand to give him some useful advice, but Olivia will be going solo and hoping to make new friends. We also meet brand new teacher Mr Shore, who is starting at Firth Park too, and who will be in charge of one of the Year 7 groups we follow throughout the series.

Alojz is originally from Slovakia and he is trying to find his place in year 7. He is helped by a good friend from primary, Finlay, and by Miss Hammond, who supports him in his efforts to learn English. Meanwhile, Mr Tipping the art teacher launches an exciting new project for the whole of year 7 - an art selfie. The idea is that each of them has to try to capture their personality in the form of a portrait which two students from another form group will then try to match up with the artist responsible.

Wayne is football mad and full of enthusiasm for his fresh start in Year 7. Unfortunately, his keenness to stand out and be noticed is getting him into trouble in classes and he is soon on the radar of several teachers who want Wayne to make the right choices. By contrast, George, another of Wayne's class mates might just be Year 7's 'Mr Perfect'. Can Wayne learn from George's example and channel his energy in the right direction?

Abdul is facing a dilemma - whether or not to become a vegetarian. His father is a butcher, which gives him even more food for thought. The latest Year 7 trip happens to be to a working farm, where the animals are bred for food, and where Year 7 will get the chance to decide which of them live and which are sent for slaughter. How will this affect Abdul and what will he decide? One of the most confident girls in Year 7 is Morgan, but for her the trip will make her confront one of her few big fears - chickens!

The hall has been taken over for a job fair, designed to help Year 7 think about how to get the qualifications they need to choose the right job in their future. Some of the choices on offer for them to sample include brick laying, fire fighting, cake baking and film make-up - and a pair of professional wrestlers. And Year 7 get to interact with some exotic animals, giving Abdul the chance to face his fear of spiders.

Year 7 have a special guest in assembly - Paralympic swimmer Clare Cashmore, who inspires them with her talk about the challenges she has had to face to win her medals. For Ella, one of the louder Year 7 girls, this first term at secondary is proving a challenge as she struggles to stay focused and on task. Meanwhile, Olivia may not have any problems with her attitude or behaviour, but she worries that she might be seen as a 'goody two-shoes'. When the girls are paired on a school canoeing trip, teachers hope they might help each other so that Olivia can let her hair down and Ella can focus her energies in a positive way.

There is a competition between two of the Year 7 forms to find out which is the funniest. Mr Shabir's form reckon they have a secret weapon in the form of Finlay, who has a very distinctive laugh. But, as we discover, despite his brilliant sense of humour, Finlay hasn't always had lots to laugh about. Over in Mr Shore's form, tech-mad Ewan is challenged to survive a whole weekend without any of his beloved games and gadgets - how will he cope?

Rugby-mad Mr Shore is on a mission to introduce the boys of Year 7 to his favourite sport - and as well as taking them on a trip to Sheffield Rugby Club to try rugby for themselves, he also arranges for some coaching from top rugby international, Ben Foden. Meanwhile, Ms Ahmed gets involved when some of Year 7 fall out.

Is the school haunted? There are loads of rumours about a school ghost, so year seven get the chance to find out for themselves when history teacher Mrs Black arranges a spooky school sleepover. It's not just a ghost hunt, it's also a way for some of her keenest students to experience what their school might have been like during the Second World War, when it's believed that the classrooms were transformed into hospital wards.

Charity doesn't begin at home - this year's big year 7 fundraising project is in aid of a charity that builds and runs schools in Kenya. The students come up with all kinds of ideas to raise money. Keen rapper Kayden and beatboxer Javonte put the teachers 'on rapport' - aiming to teach them how to rap, before they all have to show off their new skills in a special fundraising assembly. Plus there's a life-changing opportunity for two of year 7 to actually travel to Kenya as school ambassadors to find out what life out there is like. Who will be chosen to represent the school?

Fundraising Friday hits Our School, and everyone acts strangely. Year 7 Tristan turns up with a yellow mohican, the teachers swap classes for the day, and there seems to be a superhero on the loose in the form of the mysterious Maths Man - but who could he be?

Have year 7 got what it takes to set up and run their own business? Mr Jones the Maths teacher is keen to find out, so he splits them into two groups and they are challenged to make a range of products which they will actually get to sell to the general public in one of the UK's biggest shopping centres. Which team will be victorious and will any profit be made? And will the project give Fareed and Ibraheem, two of year 7's most boisterous students, a chance to show what they are capable of?

Year 7 ambassadors Roman and Olivia leave Sheffield behind and travel thousands of miles to Kenya to visit one of the schools run by the charity for whom Year 7 have been busy raising money. They are given an incredible welcome and get to see for themselves just how vitally important an education can be. They both make new friends and discover how very different life is for Kenyan students. For Roman and Olivia, it is a truly life-changing experience.

Year 7 Michael loves to dance and he should be in luck, because dance lessons are part of the timetable at Our School. The only problem is that it is not the kind of dancing he likes. Miss Mills, the dance teacher, really wants Michael to take part in the big end-of-term Strictly dance competition, but he is having none of it. Will he change his mind? And we meet best friends Chloe and Janaiya and find out what happens when they, and some of the other year 7 girls, go on a trip to meet the super-skilled skaters of CBBC's Ice Stars.

It's the last show in the series - and the big night of year 7's Strictly competition. There are several key contenders dancing for a chance to win the special glitter ball trophy, among them Alojz, who has come a long way in his first term at secondary, Michael, who loves dance but didn't think he'd be allowed to perform the kind of street dance he loves, and good friends Roman and Olivia. The students have to face two tough judges in the form of head teacher Mr Jones, and special guest from CBBC, Hacker the dog. He's not the only surprise, though. Some of the teachers have been brushing up their dance skills too. Who will be victorious and end the series on a high?
