Jeffrey (35) has metastatic colon cancer, but is nevertheless a fanatic coach of VV Asperen. Zoë (27) has metastatic bone cancer and believes in life after death. She talks to a medium who predicts what her next life will look like. Jegor (31) is afraid that his brain tumor is growing after an epileptic seizure. In the hospital he receives the results of an important MRI scan. Eva (23) has lung cancer, but is determined to finish her studies. With her family and friends she celebrates that she is still alive a year after the diagnosis, against the doctors' expectations.

Maaike (32) has melanoma cancer, but that doesn't stop her from continuing with her great passion: water polo. Her husband Hendrik encourages her during an exciting match. Zoë (27) wants to arrange as much as possible herself before her death. She visits a printing company to pick out a condolence card. Jegor (31) suffers a lot from stress during his illness. To relax, he takes singing lessons. For Eva (23) it is an important day: she is getting married. As a little girl she has dreamed of her wedding and now the time has come.

Zoë (27) feels that she is deteriorating and decides to throw a big party where she will see many people for the last time. Maaike (32) knows that she is terminally ill, but prefers to bury her head in the sand. As long as her body allows it, she goes to work every day. Since Jeffrey (36) knows that he will not live much longer, he has only one goal: to leave his family in good condition. Despite his illness, he does as much DIY as he can. Jegor (31) and his girlfriend Daisy have some very special news.

Jegor (31) goes to Montpellier with his best friends for an appointment with a French doctor. Despite everything, they try to make it a pleasant day. The tumor in Eva's (24) neck seems to be growing. She is worried and goes to the hospital for a CT scan. Jeffrey (36) has a specific wish about his coffin. Together with his family, he sees the design of the coffin come to life. Maaike (32) writes letters that her children Mare and Nils can read after her death.

Zoë (27) feels that she is deteriorating, but she also has good news. Jegor (31) receives the results of an exciting scan in France. Eva (24) wants there to be a place after her death where relatives can commemorate her. She visits a memorial forest with her husband Matthijs. Jeffrey's (35) metastases are growing and that is why he is starting a new treatment. He hopes that this medication will work, but fears the side effects.

Eva (24) wants to make it as easy as possible for her family after her death. She is making a manual with practical matters that her relatives should not forget. Jeffrey (36) has started his new treatment with great courage, but an abscess in his abdomen throws a spanner in the works. Maaike (32) is not the only one in the family with cancer. She is therefore calling on all her friends to raise money for charity. Tim is saying goodbye to Zoë (27).

It is the day of Zoë's (28) funeral. Friends, family and colleagues gather to say goodbye. Eva (24) did not expect to reach the age of 25. She succeeds anyway and that is why she throws a big party. Jeffrey's (36) health is deteriorating rapidly. He discusses his wishes for his approaching farewell with a funeral director. Tim visits Jegor (31) and his wife Daisy, who have become the proud parents of their son Lev.

Maaike (33) is doing well. Together with her children, she burns the letters she wrote for their birthdays in case she were to die. Zoë's (28) family comes together to commemorate the 40th day after her death, an Indian tradition that is important to Zoë's family. Jegor (31) receives the results of an exciting scan. It is the day of Jeffrey's (36) funeral. At the soccer club, soccer friends, family members and fellow villagers pay him their last respects.
