A last minute flight to Burma and Indonesia lands Kate in the middle of a frustrating courier mission for the CIA that's further complicated by Laura's naivete. As Kate's personal feelings for Niko Lonza place the life of the Yugoslavian diplomat in danger, Laura's efforts to help an African American sailor on a layover in New York spark a racist attack.

A violent hurricane and an elderly passenger's heart attack force Dean to make a risky unscheduled landing in war torn Haiti.

As Maggie risks her job to help fly an activist to a disarmament rally in London, Kate is called upon by the CIA for a mission designed to protect the identities of several western spies. Meanwhile, Ted takes Colette to visit his childhood home.

As Kate looks to cover up her role in the death of a Russian spy in London, Bridget suddenly reappears to resume her career at Pan Am and her relationship with Dean. As Maggie's affair with a pro-war congressman turns serious, Ted looks to Laura for help wooing a childhood friend.

Kate is ordered to track down a missing Russian double agent during a trip to Moscow, while Dean copes with the sudden return of his fiancée Bridget. Meanwhile, Maggie struggles to balance her liberal politics with her feelings for a pro-war politician.
