Phat Tuesdays - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Hood to Hollywood
The first episode of Phat Tuesdays tells the story of how Black comedians were shut out of "white" comedy clubs in the 90s, and how they found venues in South LA where Martin Lawrence, D.L. Hughley and Robin Harris showcased their talents. After the LA riots, comedian Guy Torry launched Phat Tuesdays, an all-black comedy night at the world-famous Comedy Store.

This is How We Do It
Phat Tuesdays becomes the hottest club in Los Angeles, attracting superstars like Prince, Magic Johnson, and Eddie Murphy while giving many comedians like Nick Cannon, Chris Tucker, Bill Bellamy, and host Guy Torry their big breaks in film and television. But the success increases the tension between Guy Torry and his older brother Joe...

Who Got Next?
Phat Tuesdays becomes a beacon for female comics who recount the sexism they faced. Then, legends like Steve Harvey break down the science behind what it takes to be funny. Meanwhile a new generation of comedy stars launches on social media, and stars of Phat Tuesdays return for a special tribute, including J.B. Smoove, Cedric the Entertainer, Luenell and many others.
