In The Truth Will Out he is about to open the restaurant of his dreams when he is dispatched to find a missing police officer with some sensitive information. What he'd really like to find is another waiter for Pie in the Sky.

An Innocent Man. Fisher sends a surveillance team into the restaurant to catch one of Crabbe's regular customers bribing a government minister.

Once a Copper
Fisher is away, so Crabbe can concentrate on preparing a special meal. But a face from the past takes Crabbe's mind off his cooking.

A Shot in the Dark
Assistant Chief Constable Fisher is convinced that a suspicious death at a local aerodrome suggests a drugs connection. Crabbe is not so sure.

The series is named after Dan Simmons's 2007 novel, which serves as the basis for the first season and is a fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition to the Arctic in 1845–1848.
The second season, subtitled Infamy, bears no relation to the book or first season and is mostly set in an American-run Japanese internment camp during World War II.
