Gangue Vale do Sousa

Assault by armed forces and homicide. This is a case that stems from an ongoing investigation into the "Ninjas", a group dedicated to marginal security and involved in extortion, purchase of military-caliber weapons and other illegal activities. Through telephone interceptions, the suppliers of these weapons of war became the object of interest and related to various assaults on valuables. They are identified as the Ferreiras group consisting of four brothers and a brother-in-law. The performance of this group was characterized by exercising enormous violence in assaults. These actions culminated in a fateful way for the inspector João Sousa on January 25, 2001. The lead inspector of this investigation testified how he was able to gather proof for the haste of two facts in a case that culminated in the appalling arrest of two leaders of the organization placing an end to one sequence of assaults carried out in the area of Vale do Sousa.
