Polygamy USA - Season 1

Season 1
Episodes

Meet the Polygamists
Polygamy is considered by devout followers to be the purest form of Mormonism, though it remains highly controversial to the outside world. Nearly 30 years ago, a group of polygamists formed the town of Centennial Park in Arizona, to practice their religious freedom openly. In the first episode of this new series we meet five members of the town. Arthur, one of the town's founders; Hyrum, a senior missionary; Arthur's son Ezra; and Isaiah, who, at age 31, already has two wives and five children.

The Winter Ball
Living in a fundamentalist Mormon community, young men and women don't have many opportunities to socialize. An exception is the town's New Year's Eve celebration. Arthur puts his boys to work decorating the hall. When the work is done, the boys put on their best for the single women. The oldest Cawley daughter, Rose Marie, is nervous to attend. She's hoping to receive her inspiration from God about whom she should marry, and the ball provides an opportunity if she can get over her shyness.

The Baptism
In the polygamous community of Centennial Park, the Cawley household is preparing 8-year-old Fiona for baptism, a major crossroads in her spiritual journey and one that has never before been filmed. As part of their family tradition, she will be baptized after demonstrating a thorough understanding of the tenets of their Mormon faith. Arthur accompanies his son, Ezra, to Salt Lake City and it's a tense road trip as both attempt to navigate the rift that has grown between them.

The Priesthood Council
The leaders of Centennial Park are trying to keep their young folk in the faith, while outside influences continue to challenge their efforts. The future of this community and its belief in plural marriage are in the hands of a new generation.

God Has Spoken
Ezra Hammon meets with the Brethren, who are believed to communicate directly with God, about his desire to marry Tiffany. This breaks the rules of the Fundamentalist Mormon community, since traditionally couples do not date and it is the women who receive inspiration about who to marry. The Brethren give the two their blessing, but they first must save $10,000. At the same time, 22 year-old Hyrum Burton is also preparing for marriage, but he's following the rules.

The New Polygamists
Rose Marie asks the religious leaders for help in identifying her future husband, while Hyrum and Kellie, who barely know each other, adjust to their new married life, and Marleen becomes active with an advocacy group in Centennial Park.
