He also explores how the referendum campaign in 2016 led to the downfall of Cameron's government and a battle for control of the Tories.

The former cabinet minister's assessment of the Conservative Party concentrates on Brexit, and how the party has brought itself to the brink of political destruction over arguably the biggest political crisis in Britain since the Second World War. With contributions from Boris Johnson, William Hague, Michael Gove, Michael Heseltine, Norman Lamont and Tony Blair, Portillo considers how splits in the party over widened since the referendum, and how Parliament struggled to deliver on the British people's vote to leave the EU.
