Punkovino - Season 1

Season 1

Episodes

Batman Poo
A young entrepreneurial couple has developed a wine with a difference. It's all natural, and fertilised by bat poo, thanks to the family of bats who live in an abandoned cabin in the vineyard. An unusual selling point... which creates a wine with a gothic, edgy feel.

Underground Collective
If François Saint-Lô was going to buy a place and settle down, then it would be on his own terms. No boring, lonely home ownership for him. Instead he turned his new home into a creative, eclectic community of people, and together they produce, promote and commercialise his all-natural wine.

The Pirate of Mallorca
With little money in his pocket, Eloi emigrated from Tarragona to Mallorca to breathe new life into a deserted vineyard. Here he grows almost forgotten, native grape varieties. And to protect its all natural process, Eloi refuses to add the acidity that would put this wine into a superior category of wines from Mallorca. Instead, he's happy to produce humble table wine, all natural and made from, and in, the earth.

No God No Boss No Sulfates
In a tiny village in the Corbières in the south of France, Alban Michel has found his promised land. He is a radical natural wine supporter. His worst enemy isn't chemicals though: ironically, it's nature. Wild boar love his grapes, and within a couple of days, they can wipe out a year's worth of hard graft.

Raf's Wine
Raphael Baissas goes by Raf - a moniker that sums up his no-nonsense approach to life and to making wine. A former Apple employee, he wanted a simpler life. At night he hangs out with his friends in the town and in the morning he works hard in his fields making natural wine.

Gogo Wine from Georgia
Wine has been produced for 8000 years in huge clay jugs in Georgia. In Kakheti, at the foot of the Greater Caucasus, a young natural winegrower called Keti is following in her father's footsteps. But people still aren't used to women winegrowers in Georgia - not that she's going to let that stop her: She even called her wine Gogo, which means woman.

Wine Is Not Dead
Brendan Tracey is a punk singer and frontman of the band The Insults. He grew up in San Francisco and ended up in France at the age of fifteen. His love for music is still going strong, but now he has another one: garage wine! Remember: Alcohol harms your health.

The Belgian UFO
Servaas Blockeel lives in Flanders where he grows his natural wine. Surrounded by farmers who spray aplenty of pesticides, he is a bit of a strange one. Even stranger: he experiments with fermenting red and white grapes together in egg-shaped plastic huts.

Volcanic Wine
Vincent Marie is in communion with his earth. He believes it feels his intentions behind it, and without belief in his actions, the grapes will not grow. And as well as a heart full of good intentions, he has a magic ingredient...

Riot Girl
In the southeast of Sicily, Arianna Occhipinti is a star of the natural wine scene. She relies on natural yeast for fermentation. This gives her wine its unique flavour, which she says encapsulates the flavour of the island. Make sure to only consume alcohol in moderation.
