Season 1
Quarter Ton Teen follows teenagers struggling with severe obesity on a multi-year journey as they fight for healthier lives. Knowing they face uncertain futures unless they lose weight, these teens pursue weight-loss surgery in hopes of a second chance. Told in part with their own personal footage, the series documents their determination for a better life and the challenging journey to get healthy that will test them in ways they don't expect.

Breia Jenae
Due to constant bullying about her size at school, Breia mostly keeps to herself and avoids trying to make friends. She spends all her time with her mom, and the only thing she wants to do is eat. Now, with her 13-year-old daughter weighing over 400lbs, her mom feels that she must take drastic steps to help her get healthy until an unexpected tragedy makes Breia uncertain that she can continue on her weight loss journey.

Tommy
At 17, Tommy is nearly 700lbs. His parents have to do almost everything for him due to his size. His dad helps him with daily tasks and his mom makes sure he has everything he wants–including unlimited quantities of food. With his health getting to a breaking point, they know Tommy needs help to lose weight fast. Weight loss surgery may be the only option he has to save his life.

Amber/Emily
Past trauma led Amber and her mom, Emily, to find comfort in food. Now, with Amber's weight well over 400lbs at the age of 16, and Emily's at almost 400lbs, they both embark on a journey to improve their lives through weight loss surgery, but things don't go as planned.

Cecelia
Cece has struggled with weight for most of her life, but now at almost 500lbs at the age of 16, she feels like she doesn't fit in anywhere because of her size. This feeling combined with constant health struggles due to her weight, leads Cece to pursue weight-loss surgery. While hopeful for a better future, she fears losing weight could isolate her from her family.

Winter & Daniel
At 15 years old, Winter is almost 400lbs. Her dad, Daniel, is over 600lbs and fears he's contributing to her unhealthy habits. He decides that they both need weight-loss surgery to turn their lives around but their journeys take unexpected turns that end up threatening their progress.
