Pohjola's wife promises her daughter if Väinö brings her money for a shot by Sampo. Väinö asks Ilmari to build Sampo, but begins to make a boat requested by her daughter. He escapes by sea to care for the Virgin of the Island, but has to slip away from the island's angry men after returning home. In the meantime, the men of the North have burned the house of Lemminki, and he leaves for a retreat.

At the end, Väinö and Ilmari will subscribe to their lives for today's listeners. Lemminki tells about his robbery trip to Sigtuna.
