Rich Holiday, Poor Holiday - Season 4

Season 4

Episodes

Episode 1
In this episode, Welsh factory workers and father and son, Chris and Daniel ditch their usual budget camping breaks for an all-expenses paid holiday in Miami Beach! They're swapping with big spending family Maisie, partner Liam and Maisie's ten-year-old daughter Gracie who thinks a £1500 price tag on a pair of shoes is cheap! Instead of their usual five-star luxury hotels, they're heading to Hartlepool in the North East to stay on a sail-boat not much bigger than their car!
Daniel's hoping this trip is a chance to get his mojo back. After a car crash a few years ago, recovery has been tough and his Dad has been his rock. This holiday is a chance for Daniel to share the experience of a lifetime with his father, to thank him for all his support and to create lasting memories.
Stateside, Chris and Daniel embrace the VIP Miami lifestyle with activities including a private speed boat tour, getting behind the wheel of a convertible mustang, rollerblading beach side with the super glamorous, and feeding alligators in the Everglades national park. Will the trip be a chance for Daniel to show his appreciation for his father and will Miami's glitz and glamour help Daniel discover his lost mojo?
In Hartlepool, sharing close quarters below deck doesn't float Liam's boat and the family are unimpressed by the tiny kitchen, wobbly accommodation and the awful weather. But the trio desperately need to spend quality time together and mum Maisie hopes the budget break will provide an opportunity for partner Liam and daughter Gracie to strengthen their bond. Will taking part in budget activities like donkey rides, museum trips and eating battered burgers persuade them they can have more fun as a family without the trappings of luxury?

Episode 2
Welsh couple, bin man Stephan and student nurse Gemma, get an all-expenses paid delayed honeymoon to the Maldives. They're swapping with flash city boys Jeff and Steph who spend big bucks on designer clothes and super cars. These friends think nothing of dropping ten grand on their usual sun-soaked holidays to Ibiza or Dubai so how will they fare sharing a twin room in a budget B&B in Skegness?
Life is full on for Gemma and Stefan. Stefan dreams of becoming a paramedic but for now that's on hold. As well as looking after two children, Gemma is studying to be a nurse and her shift patterns leave little time for romance. Last year the couple got married but with limited funds, they skipped the honeymoon and went on a cheap break to Benidorm with their kids.
The Maldives is a world away from their usual holidays in South Wales. With a private aquavilla overlooking the Indian Ocean, it's like something from a screen saver. As the couple try snorkeling, seafood in a fine dining restaurant, and ariel yoga for the first time will this magical environment allow romance to blossom and ignite their passion to pursue their dreams for a better future?
In Skegness, Jeff and Steph bunk up in a twin room in Julia's budget B&B. Used to extravagant party-fuelled trips to Ibiza and Dubai, the cold temperatures and grey skies are a bit of a shock to the system. By their own admission, they're out of touch with reality and came here to appreciate what they have. With a week packed with activities, from line dancing to go-karting, can these city boys appreciate what Skegness has to offer and find the fun on a British budget break?

Episode 3
Millionaire property developer and single mum Charlotte and her nine-year-old daughter Florence trade their five-star luxury holidays to Marbella for a rural break on a dairy farm in Lancashire, swapping with mum-of-two Charlotte and her partner Paul, who head to stunning Montenegro. The couple have been together for just two and a half years but they've never had a first date let alone a holiday together. And how will vegan Charlotte cope with the basic facilities, tight budget, mud, milking cows and the dreary British weather?

Episode 4
Pensioner Kath from Bolton and her 23-year-old granddaughter Nicol are treated to an all-expenses-paid holiday to the Sahara Desert in Tunisia. They swap with husband-and-wife money experts Ken and Mary, who are replacing their exotic holidays with a week in an off-grid yurt in Cornwall. Nicol encourages her Nana to find her sense of adventure, and wants to make lasting memories while they have the opportunity. And how will Ken and Mary fare on a severely restricted holiday budget? Can they practice what they preach and still have a good time?

Episode 5
Self-made millionaire and owner of a luxury private jet business 60-year-old George and his 27-year-old partner Jilly trade their exotic five-star holidays for a camper van road trip in the UK. They swap with hardup couple Pete and Allie who live in a camper van and are treated to a snowy adventure in the stunning mountains of Norway. For Pete and Allie it's been a tough few years. Can this holiday help recharge this couple and give them the boost they crave? George and Jilly take part in activities from open water swimming to mountain biking. Will embracing a budget holiday teach them anything about the way they live their own lives and bring the two of them closer together?

Episode 6
Single mum Izzy and her 19-year-old son Ethan ditch their bargain basement package holidays for an allexpenses paid trip to Nashville. Ethan has autism, so for him a trip to America is a dream come true and an opportunity to spread his wings. They're swapping with semi retirees and friends Steve, Denise and Ella. Used to exotic destinations and five-star accommodation, how will the trio cope sharing a space on a lowbudget package holiday to the island of Tenerife?

Episode 7
Lifelong friends Frank, Stephen and Moses, who grew up together in North London get the trip of a lifetime in Jordan, swapping with the Smith family from Derbyshire - Mum Elisabeth, Dad Michael and kids Wilf and Bess. This family ditch their typical big-ticket global adventures for a budget seaside break in a static caravan near Barry in Wales. A road trip in Jordan is the perfect place for the friends to reconnect. And for the Smith family, the holiday is a chance for Dad Michael to teach his kids about the value of money. Michael grew up on a council estate, but his kids go to one of the most expensive schools in the country.

Episode 8
A hard-up group of friends - Lynne, Lourdes and Zoe - are treated like royalty at a prestigious chateau dating back to the 14th Century in France's Loire valley, swapping with best friends Zahia and Feyi who exchange their usual five-star hotels for a tent on a no-frills campsite in Norfolk.

Furniture restorers, horologists, metal workers, ceramicists, upholsterers and all manner of skilled craftsmen and women have been brought together to work in one extraordinary space, restoring much-loved possessions to their former glory.
Many of these items have incredible stories behind them and a unique place in history: from an accordion played in the Blitz by a woman who is now in her 90s, to a beautifully crafted clock made by a father who was completely blind; a Pinball machine that is currently being used as a kitchen counter, and a Davenport desk with its trademark fake drawers which fooled burglars - and their crowbar.
