Ryan and Tatum attend a screening of 'Paper Moon' at The Palm Springs Film Festival. For Tatum, the trip is a chance to connect with her father and relive memories of her mother, Ryan's troubled first wife who passed away in Palm Springs 15 years ago.

As Tatum struggles with Ryan's insensitivity to her sobriety, Ryan's therapist suggests it's time for him and Tatum to start joint therapy together to continue mending their relationship.

When Ryan invites Tatum to Washington, D.C. to take part in a Farrah Fawcett induction ceremony at the Smithsonian, Tatum is overwhelmed with her feelings of abandonment from when Ryan chose his love for Farrah over his children.

Back home after the confrontation in Washington, D.C., Ryan and Tatum are not speaking. But after a conversation with a friend who lost her father before she had a chance to reconcile with him, Tatum arranges a family therapy session for herself and Ryan.

Ryan and Tatum seemed to being moving closer to reconciliation, but Ryan's mounting concern over Tatum's new book, fueled by a therapy session where they delve into the past, leave their relationship in shambles.
