Peek into Karlstad's fanciest department store in the 1940s or take a spin in the spinning carousel bar at the Grand Hotel in 1957. Through SVT's archives, we follow Karlstad's development after demolitions and new construction, from a wooden city to a stone city.

In 1956, Visby inaugurated a new airfield and in the late 1960s there were protests and riots against the wave of redevelopment that was taking place. With gems from the archive, the story of how the medieval city of Visby both demolished and preserved and made room for new architecture is told.

In 1947, the electrification of the railway between Stockholm and Västerås was inaugurated. In the 1960s, Nordanbygärde, a new residential area adapted for families with children, was built.
