Saving Lives in Cardiff will follow the daily decisions made by clinicians, as they seek to transform the lives of their patients in South Wales, against a backdrop of mounting waiting lists.
Featuring observational filming and in-depth interviews. the programmes will reveal the full scale of clinicians' caseloads, taking us to the heart of compelling and life affirming patient stories at the heart of the largest hospital in Wales.

Episode 1
At Wales's biggest hospital, neurosurgeon George Eralil operates on a 19-year-old with a rare brain tumour, and vascular consultant Lewis Meecham faces a wave of emergency cases.

Episode 2
Paediatric surgeon Oliver Jackson fights to ensure surgery for a 17-week-old baby triplet goes ahead. And a man who was the victim of an attack has an operation to restore his sight.

Episode 3
Two maxillofacial surgeons team up to rebuild a 19-year-old's face after removing a tumour, and consultant Aarti Sharma fights to give a mother with incurable cancer more time with her four children.

Episode 4
Eye surgeon Magdalena Popiela fights to save a woman's sight, and for orthopaedic surgeon Clare Carpenter, a wave of emergencies add pressure to an already full day of surgery.

Episode 5
Paediatric surgeon Selena Curkovic is determined to make a life-changing operation happen for an eight-year-old boy, and a spinal surgeon must decide which of two patients gets surgery first.

Episode 6
A breast cancer patient and her surgeon of nine years hope a third operation means she can live life fully again, and three surgeons remove a tumour that is a 'ticking time-bomb.'
