Das Geheimnis von Rotten
The doctor Lucia Salinger moves with her family to the Tyrolean mountain village of Rotten, the hometown of her husband Matthi. Her ten-year-old daughter Alma suffers from severe asthma, and the mountain air is supposed to ease her illness. Lucia has given up her career in the hospital and Matthi has closed his hipster café in Vienna. But the new start is bumpy. Due to climate change, there is no snow, and the winter sports resort is suffering. Matthi's parents, Bruno and Maria Hofer, are the biggest hoteliers in the village and do not want to accept the situation as it is. Bruno, the patriarch of Rotten, wants to have a mountain ridge blown up to build a new gondola station that is supposed to boost tourism. The waves in the village are rising, and young Valentina in particular is resisting Bruno's plans.

Zwischen Himmel und Erde
The legend of the "guardian of the mountains" has stuck with Alma. As if possessed, she speaks of the body of a young woman who is supposedly to be found on the Muttstein. When Alma goes on a mountain hike with Lucia and Valentina, Alma's premonition actually becomes reality. Meanwhile, Bruno is preparing for the community meeting. There he wants to present his plans for blowing up the mountain and building a new gondola, but Bruno will not only receive approval. At the same time, the body of the young woman can be identified: it is Marianne Wild, Aurelia's daughter, who disappeared without a trace 40 years ago. When Lucia discovers an injury on Marianne's body, she insists on an autopsy.

Alma und das zweite Gesicht
It is clear: Marianne was murdered. Inspector Prochaszka begins the investigation and Alma is also questioned. She has been behaving more and more strangely, especially since Marianne's body was found, which does not go unnoticed by Lucia. She discovers uncanny parallels to the dead Marianne and it becomes clear to her that Alma knows things that she actually cannot know. The mysterious events also increasingly put a strain on Lucia and Matti's marriage and they argue. When Lucia then wants to flee Rotten with her children, Alma has suddenly disappeared.

Die Suche
Alma has still disappeared without a trace. Rotten starts a major search operation at Muttstein, but the conditions on the mountain make the situation more difficult. Lucia firmly believes that her daughter is still alive, even if the chances of that are getting smaller with every passing hour. Then Lucia learns more from Aurelia about the mystical danger of Muttstein. She finally realizes that she will not be able to save her daughter with purely rational thinking. Meanwhile, one of Alma's drawings catches the interest of Inspector Prochaszka. It shows a bloody body, whereupon the investigator gets a picture of Lucia and Matti's house for himself.

Blutschnee
Two nights have now passed since Alma disappeared, but the breathless search for the girl has not produced any results. Lucia is still firmly convinced that Alma is at Muttstein. However, everyone, including Matti, doubts that Alma will survive and calls off the search. Lucia, however, continues to search and is supported by Valentina. When the two meet Bruno, who wants to continue blasting the mountain, a bloody conflict ensues. Meanwhile, Maria is confronted by Inspector Prochaszka with new investigation results in the murder of Marianne Wild, but Maria blocks her.

Wächterin der Berge
Maria blames Lucia for Bruno's death and seeks revenge. She has already incapacitated Matti, and now she lures Lucia into an ambush. A violent confrontation breaks out between the two women on the Muttstein, but Lucia does everything she can to escape and continue searching for Alma. At the same time, nature seems to be going crazy, the Muttstein is showing its power and Rotten is finally in danger.
