The Devil You Know
It was the crime that captivated Australia and made headlines day after day.
On May 20, 2014, 20-year-old university student Jamie Gao was shot dead inside a Padstow storage shed in Sydney's south west. Six days later his body would be found by fishermen, stuffed inside a surfboard bag floating off the Cronulla coastline.
Damning security footage put two men inside that shed with Gao – former NSW detectives Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara.
Both pleaded not guilty to the shooting murder and a separate charge of taking part in the supply of 2.7kg of ice.
During the four-month trial Rogerson and McNamara pointed the finger at each other for the murder. Today, a jury found both men guilty on all charges.
Now, in a powerful one-hour special investigation, Seven News will examine in forensic detail the full, extraordinary facts surrounding the case.
Featuring incredible CCTV vision of the 48 hours before, during and after the murder, senior reporter and Walkley Award-winning journalist Robert Ovadia pieces together the events that led to Gao's death and key evidence in the investigation.
We look back at the life and crimes of Rogerson, one of Australia's most infamous detectives, and hear from the insiders who know him and McNamara best. And the shocking revelation from one of the most respected policemen in NSW history.

In Cold Blood: The Chris Lane Story
He was Australia's rising sports star, who went to America to pursue his baseball dream.
Then the unthinkable happened. On Friday, August 16, 2013, Chris Lane set off for his afternoon jog in southern Oklahoma – a route he'd run many times before – when he was gunned down from behind by three callous and bored teenage joyriders.
Suffering severe internal injuries to his heart and lungs, Chris died on the side of the road. He was 22 years old.
The three teenage boys – aged just 15, 16 and 17 at the time of the attack – are now behind bars. Last week the youngest of the three, James Edwards Jnr, was sentenced to 25 years as an accessory after the fact. The driver that day, Michael Jones, will spend at least 38 years in prison before he is eligible for parole. Chancey Luna, the boy who pulled the trigger, will never be released.
But the full story behind this heartless crime has never been told.
In a world exclusive Seven News investigation, international award-winning journalist Mike Amor comes face-to-face with one of the killers who has shock admissions from behind prison walls about why and how he and his mates mercilessly took Chris' life.
We hear from Chris' parents and girlfriend in their first in-depth television interviews about his death and enduring legacy.
Featuring never-before-seen video, we uncover details of that day never revealed. And the police at the centre of the investigation detail how they tracked down Chris' killers.
