Part 1
When Dave's wife Rita dies suddenly, he finds himself a single father to their four children. Rita's best friend Sarah is also devastated, but offers support to Dave and the family. In the midst of their shared grief, events take a turn that neither Dave nor Sarah could have ever predicted.

Part 2
Dave and Sarah are shocked by their passionate kiss; what did it mean? Dave takes refuge in tracking down Lucy's father but uncovers more than he bargained for, and the discovery sparks a course of action that has repercussions for everyone.

Part 3
What exactly did Evie see when she caught Dave and Sarah in bed, and will she tell anyone? Dave has to take Lucy to meet her real father, and Sarah gives Dave an ultimatum that forces him to confront his greatest fear.

Part 4
Matt begs Sarah for another chance to make their relationship work, whilst Sarah anxiously waits to see if Dave will go ahead with the paternity tests. The hearing into Rita's death takes place and the trauma, of reliving Rita's last moments, forces Dave to re-evaluate everything.
