The funfair has come to Helsingør and soon joy, and laughter are replaced by screams. A high-ranking employee has been shot during his shift at the shooting booth, but as it happens in the middle of a turbulent shift change, doubt as to whether the killer got the right man quickly arises. Josefine is still accused of Otto's drug smuggling, but Dan does everything in his power to get her released.

The funfair is in many ways running on the edge of the law, so unfortunately, not everyone is equally willing to cooperate with Dan and Flemming. Marianne has found a foreign hair on the deceased, which with some effort may lead them to the killer. But what the police do not yet know is that a stalker is out there following the widow, Ene.

An international male top model is back in Denmark to close an important show during the fashion week, but shortly after his arrival, the party ends abruptly. His dead body is found on the beach, and since he had been a popular gentleman in the hours leading up to his death, the police struggle to figure out who last saw the young man alive.

Dan and Flemming make no progress in the case after questioning the model colleague Thomas. But, fortunately, it turns out the video equipment he stole contains important backstage recordings, which enlighten them about the deceased's last hours. Meanwhile, Dan's effort to get Josefine out of prison takes a dangerous turn.

A female local politician has been murdered in the Thai boxing club. When Dan and Flemming arrive at the scene, they discover that the blood from the deceased forms a pattern of a butterfly, resembling the club logo. The first to be interrogated in the case are the deceased's group of friends, who train in the same club. And they are not afraid to lie to each other nor to the police.

Roland has previously lied about his alibi, so can he be trusted when he claims that Rikke had the murder weapon on her when she met her killer? Roland is not the only one in the friend group with a motive, so Dan and co. must follow every lead, and with Benjamin on paternity leave, the others must run faster.

It comes as a shock to Dan Sommerdahl when he finds out who has been killed. He's hard to scare, but maybe this time he has been so consumed by the Josefine Sundby case that it ends up affecting his dearest ones? Illegal methods previously used in the investigation begin to have consequences.

The situation has now become so serious that forces from all over Zealand have been called in. Dan and Flemming's relationship is under such great pressure that Flemming wants to take the matter into his own hands. But if they are to solve the murder mystery, they need to cooperate. Whether the duo Astrid and Arne can lead them to the killer remains to be seen.
