Alyona, a provincial from Salsk, drives into Stalinka inside the Garden Ring. Alyona has just divorced her ex-husband Serega, rented an apartment (with Serega's money) and found herself in an unfamiliar world for herself - the world of the Moscow intelligentsia. There are three apartments in the stairwell, besides Alyona, Fedor Sadovsky, the son of a Soviet cosmonaut, the owner of a cleaning company, and Aunt Shura, the widow of a diplomat who has known Fedya since childhood, have lived there for decades.

Fedya and his friend Boris help Alyona with the move, while Alyona and her friend Varya visit an astrologer. During the transfer of the boxes, Borya drops the "most important" box with things - there is a valuable thing there - the plaster head of the Gorgon medusa - the only school prize and a symbol of the happiest day in Alyona's life.

Early in the morning, Alain is woken up by a call from alcoholic parents - he needs money - 40,000 rubles. Alyona doesn't have them. Alyona tries to borrow money from Varya. Varya gives Alyona invaluable advice instead of money - to ask Serega for money (but he does not just give it) and Fedya.

Fedya is doing morning exercises on the landing at the entrance, Alyona is trying to make peace with the help of a song and leaflets with funny apologies, Fedor is adamant. Serega offers Alyona a trip to Sochi. Since there is no work, and Fedya is offended by Alyona, Alyona agrees.

Fedor has a dream - a scene from the movie "Titanic" when Jack draws Rose. Only instead of Rose - Alyona, and Fedya is Jack. She wakes up from the doorbell - it's Alyona who went to work and asks what to do. Today is the day of remote work, Fedya explains the essence of Alyona's work - to talk to clients of the cleaning company, process complaints, accept applications. Alyona is doing well - she talks to everyone with a voice from the "phone sex" service, which makes Fedor jealous.

Alyona comes to Fedya and finds him in a bad mood - usually Mom comes on Wednesdays, but now they finally quarreled because of Alyona. Alyona offers to make peace with her mother, especially since the quarrel was partly her fault, and drags Fedya to her mother's dacha.

In Alyona's apartment, the ceiling is flooded. Alyona goes to investigate, asks for help from Fedya. Fedya can't help anything - you need to get to the roof, but there's a lock hanging there, the locksmith doesn't have a key, you need to cut it down. Alyona calls Serega for help.

In the morning, the district policeman Myshkin comes to Fedya. He says that Fedya has such a job that can help fight crime - your cleaners come to the apartment, and there's something suspicious, well, you call me right away.

Serega receives an answer from Alyona to a marriage proposal. Varya thinks about the fact that she likes Serega herself. She doesn't want to miss her chance.

Varya comes to Alyona – some aunt in your neighborhood sells luxurious fur coats for a penny. It turns out that this is an old acquaintance of theirs. Alyona believes that she will not sell anything to such people, since she can't stand Alyona. The girls ask Fedya for help.

Boris feels lonely because Fedya "left" him for Alyona. Katerina appears on the horizon – the former Fedya, whom Fedya wanted to marry many years ago, but this relationship was spoiled by Fedor's mother.

Alyona confesses to Seryoga that she is with Fyodor. He decides to crash the car. Varya puts all the dots over I in her relationship with Borya. Katerina comes up with a way to get Fedor back.
