Beim Training der Rollstuhlbasketballer in Hamburg bricht Maria (Jana Reinermann) plötzlich tot in ihrem Rolli zusammen. Ihr Team und Trainer Niklas (Uwe Bohm) sind geschockt. Maria wurde offenbar vergiftet. Und: Sie war schwanger. Kurz vor seiner Pensionierung hängt sich Stubbe (Stumph) noch einmal richtig rein und tritt in manches Fettnäpfchen. Dabei lenkt er sich auch von den Gedanken über die eigene Zukunft ab. Tochter Christiane zieht mit ihrem Freund zusammen. Freundin Marlene (Heike Trinker) hat sich bereits auf den Weg nach Dresden gemacht… Sentimental wird er schon, wenn Stubbe an der Elbe sitzt und 20 Jahre Hamburg und sein Leben Revue passieren lässt. Die Krimihandlung gerät dabei verständlicherweise etwas in den Hintergrund.
