Severe storms battered millions in the Northeast including West Virginia where heavy rain and winds sent a tent flying, hurting several people. Some of the extreme weather crossed the nation, bringing downpour to Ohio, flooded streets in Louisiana and damaging winds in Pennsylvania. NBC's Liz Kreutz reports for Sunday TODAY. Former "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Peley is speaking out in his first interview since he was fired by CBS News after clashing with senior management. Pelley tells the New York Times, "CBS News, in my view, is on fire." The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks-off on Thursday in Mexico City where the host country will take on South Africa in the first of 104 matches between a record-48 countries. The tournament will be played at sites across Mexico, Canada and in the United States where the game has grown considerably since the World Cup was last held there in 1994.
