There are 65,000 fires in the home every year, and over 11,000 people are injured. That's 30 people every day. And there are three times as many home fires as 30 years ago -even allowing for an increase in the number of homes, the number has risen. Why? In a special report to mark the beginning of its 21st series, That's Life! examines the causes of fire in the home and offers advice on devising an escape plan.

Accompanied by Peggy Scott, an accomplished African-American woman, Marian inadvertently becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her aunts, a scion of the old money set, and her stupendously rich neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George and Bertha Russell.
