On 21 December 1988, a bomb detonates on board Pan Am flight 103 above Lockerbie, Scotland. The attack kills 270 people and shocks the world. The Scottish police and FBI must join forces to find the perpetrators. The Bombing of Pan Am 103 is a six-part factual drama based on the real events surrounding the Lockerbie disaster and the international investigation to find those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.

Episode 2
In the weeks following the bombing of Pan Am 103, the pressure for the investigation to make progress continues to mount. Heartbroken relatives of the victims arrive in Lockerbie, desperate to find their loved ones and in need of answers. The local community receives them warmly. Meanwhile, the joint Scottish-FBI investigation closes in on its first suspect. Could this individual, acting alone or for a larger terrorist organisation, be the Lockerbie bomber?

Episode 3
Evidence is discovered amid the wreckage that could represent a potential breakthrough. It suggests that the Lockerbie bomb bears the accidental signature of a known terrorist organisation. This could change the course of the entire investigation. Representatives of the Scottish police head to Washington to collaborate with their FBI colleagues and share vital new evidence. Progress looks promising, but the CIA appears to be withholding crucial intelligence on a possible bombmaker.

Episode 4
Scottish police hit on a promising new lead. With new evidence and forensic breakthroughs, investigators start to piece together an image of how the bomb could have slipped through airport security and entered the system. The Frankfurt luggage list combined with bomb-damaged clothing leads Scottish CID to a small, family-run clothes shop on the Mediterranean island of Malta. Could this have been the origin of the Lockerbie bomb?

Episode 5
The ongoing joint Scottish and FBI investigation closes in on the identity of the ‘mystery shopper'. Together, the teams work to uncover the co-conspirators behind the Lockerbie bomb plot. Vital progress is threatened by troubled relations between international agencies. A secret CIA asset could hold the key to revealing the identities of those responsible for the bombing of Pan Am 103.

Episode 6
Over a decade after the Lockerbie bombing, following much debate and international negotiation, the accused finally stand trial. The venue is a purpose-built Scottish court in the Netherlands. Bereaved relatives around the world campaign for access to the trial. Scottish police and the FBI continue to work tirelessly to secure vital witness testimony and deliver meticulously collected forensic evidence. Will the investigators finally secure justice for the victims and their families?
