Episode 1
Ophelia Marsh is studying English at Cambridge when the charismatic lecturer she has begun an affair with suddenly disappears. She tracks him down to his family home in Ireland, where she discovers that his wife, a famous author, has died in a fire.

Episode 2
Michael instructs Mary to keep an eye on Ophelia, but she slips away to meet up with Sean - who guesses that Michael is the father of her baby, but promises to keep her secret. An encounter with a local psychic leads to a surprising announcement. Michael travels to Cambridge when he receives word that his father has taken ill, and goes in search of a mysterious visitor.

Episode 3
As her obsession with Roisin deepens, Ophelia begins to fear that Michael is not telling her the truth, and she feels haunted by signs of the dead woman wherever she goes. Meanwhile, Ruth's investigations in Cambridge reach Ireland with the arrival of a mysterious stranger, and Ophelia has to finally face up to whether she is losing her mind as Michael claims or, as she suspects, something more sinister is afoot

Episode 4
As the truth about Roisin finally breaks through the web of lies that has been spun between Cambridge and Ireland, Ophelia desperately tries to escape, while the architects of this manipulation attempt to cover their tracks. With Ophelia trapped and cornered in the house at Knockdara, she must finally find the courage to face up to those who have sought to destroy her.
