Beverley Cox's expatriate childhood in Kenya was overshadowed by her turbulent relationship with her father. The family's domestic help, Kak, stepped in to care for her, treating Beverly like his own daughter. Instead of looking after Kak in his retirement, as is often customary in Africa, Beverley's family left him with nothing. Desperate to apologise and right the wrongs of her family, Beverley has tried in vain to find Kak. Louise is the bunny ears-wearing youngest daughter with an off-kilter sense of humor that makes her somewhat of a liability in the kitchen – and with the public.
