If I Were a Recipe
In the first week of The Great American Recipe, ten talented home cooks from regions around the United States gather in a barn in Virginia to share their most memorable recipes. The home cooks compete for a chance to win the title of "The Great American Recipe" and to have one of their recipes featured on the cover of The Great American Recipe cookbook.
During this first week, the cooks have start with a 60 minute challenge to prepare a dish that "defines who they are." In the second round, the cooks have 90 minutes to cook a dish that represents the region where they live. Following a judges tasting and an emotional elimination, the nine remaining nine cooks head into their second week of competition.

The Daily Dish
In the second week of competition, the nine remaining home cooks return for another chance to win The Great American Recipe and to have their dish featured on the cover of The Great American Recipe cookbook. This week's theme is The Daily Dish.
In the first round, the home cooks have 45 minutes to prepare their most beloved "in a pinch" recipe using their pantry staples. In the second round of the competition, the cooks have 90 minutes to make their most crowd-pleasing recipe to share with the panel of judges, and one cook will be named the winner of the week while another is sent home.

Love Language
Join us in the kitchen as the remaining eight cooks share favorite comfort foods and a dish inspired by a loved one. From first date cuisine to sentimental recipes passed down through generations, love is definitely in the air.

In the second round of competition, the cooks have 90 minutes to prepare a dish they can enjoy at an outdoor event with the panel of judges.

Party On A Plate
Get ready to party as the six remaining home cooks share their favorite special occasion and holiday recipes. From modern takes on classic gourmet fare to old-time family recipes filled with love and memories, it's a special night in the barn.
In the first round the cooks have 60 minutes to create a dish that honors a special event in their life. In the second round, the cooks have two hours to prepare a recipe that celebrates a holiday tradition in which they serve family style to both the judges and their fellow competitors.

Mix It Up
Watch what happens when the five remaining cooks have to swap recipes and prepare each other's dishes. Then, each must wow the judges with an original fusion dish that represents their own uniquely American story.
Taking the theme of "Fusion," in the first round, the cooks are surprised with a major twist. They must swap recipes with a fellow competitor and they have 60 minutes to prepare the dish. Their new dishes are presented to judges Graham Elliot, Tiffany Derry, and Leah Cohen for their critiques. In the second round of competition, the cooks have 90 minutes to fuse two of their favorite recipes into one dish to share with the panel of judges.

Family
Celebrate family as the four remaining cooks prepare two dishes inspired by their friends and families. Whether it's a neighbor's lasagna or a dish passed down from grandma, the judges are in for some heartfelt food.
In the first round, the cooks have 60 minutes to prepare a recipe inspired by a close friend. In the second round of competition, the cooks have 90 minutes to prepare their family's most treasured recipe to share with the panel of judges.

The Great American Recipe
It's time for the season finale as the three remaining cooks go head-to-head to win "The Great American Recipe." They'll have some surprise along the way in their final chance to wow the judges with a very special dinner.
In the first round, the cooks have 60 minutes to prepare a recipe inspired by someone they love to cook with in the kitchen. In the final round, the cookshave three hours to prepare both an entrée and a dessert that best represents their Great American Recipe. Plus, some surprise guests arrive to help them with their final dishes. In the end, one cook will be named the winner and have one of their winning recipes featured on the cover of The Great American Recipe cookbook.
