Episode 1
In this episode, pupils from the predominantly white town of Tamworth get a massive shock when they arrive in Saltley in central Birmingham and become the racial minority. A transgender pupil is paired with a devout Muslim girl, a white mother overcomes her prejudices to go for dinner in an Asian house for the first time, and tensions rise when the students find out what they really think about each other. Sharing specially designed lessons, the children examine the offensive language the two communities use about each other, ask what it means to be British, and learn whether they can find more that unites them than divides them and become friends. With many areas of Britain effectively segregated, will these children begin to solve a problem the adult world has failed to fix?
Episode 2
Friendships start to form among the children but one of the Tamworth boys discovers a cultural divide when he develops feelings for a Muslim girl. The children have a lesson about race and terrorism, some of the girls speak about the restrictions their parents place on them, and the Saltley students get a culture shock on their first day at the white Tamworth school. With many areas of Britain effectively segregated, can these children begin to solve a problem that the adult world has failed to fix?
Episode 3
A clash of views over mixed-sex dancing threatens to upset the experiment when the students and parents arrange a celebration party. A white school and a? mainly Asian? school swap? pupils in this radical experiment to see what happens when children from segregated areas mix for the first time.? The Muslim kids from Birmingham get exposed to the centre of the nearly all-white town of Tamworth when they do work experience, and the students learn a lesson on which ethnic group gets the best exam results. With many areas of Britain effectively segregated, will these children begin to solve a problem the adult world has failed to fix?
