What begins as a murder investigation becomes a seven-year-long mission to identify those responsible, secure justice for Lyra's family, and take on the organisation that claimed responsibility for her death: the New IRA. Senior Investigating Officer Jason Murphy and his team begin the hunt for a masked gunman who seems to have disappeared without trace. With the murder weapon missing and not one of the 150 people on the street when Lyra was killed willing to come forward, detectives must painstakingly uncover the truth of what happened for themselves. Lyra's sister Nichola struggles with the devastating loss. As detectives uncover new evidence, the search for a single gunman grows into something much bigger, drawing Murphy towards investigating the leadership of the New IRA.

Murphy and his team recover a gun that may be linked to Lyra McKee's murder. A DNA lead gives detectives their first direct route into the network surrounding the killing. Drawing on forensic evidence, intelligence, CCTV and mobile phone footage, detectives believe they can finally put a name to the masked figure at the centre of the case. Murphy launches a series of high-risk operations targeting those suspected of involvement. The stakes are immense.
