Ed finds himself behind enemy lines when he crash-lands on a mysterious planet. Meanwhile, Kelly questions why Gordon wants to take the Command Test.

The Orville makes First Contact and a new crewmember joins the ship.

A Happy Refrain
The Orville crew is surprised when Claire's personal life takes an unexpected turn, and Gordon makes an unusual grooming suggestion to Bortus.

Deflectors
A famous engineer from Moclus comes aboard the Orville to upgrade the deflectors. He tells Talla that he is attracted to her, but in secret, since being attracted to females is stigmatized on Moclus, and would result in a prison sentence. Klyden confronts him about his sexual orientation, and later becomes the suspect for his murder.

Identity
After Isaac suddenly shuts down, the USS Orville journeys to his home world of Kaylon 1 in an attempt to save him. While there, Captain Mercer takes the opportunity to try to convince Kaylon leadership to join the Planetary Union. Ty makes a gruesome discovery.

Identity Part II
Kaylon leadership overpowers the crew of The Orville, then they lead a Kaylon armada to Earth for a battle to eliminate all biological life.

Blood of Patriots
Ed must initiate peace talks with the Krill.

Lasting Impressions
The Orville crew members open a time capsule from 2015.

Sanctuary
Ed discovers that Moclans aboard The Orville are harboring a secret.
