The Rebel - Season 2

The Rebel - Season 2

Season 2

Simon Callow is back as irascible, hell-raising pensioner Henry Palmer, the former mod who sees no reason to stop living his life by his own rules now he's in his 70s, in the second, brand-new series of this UKTV Original.

Written by Andrew Birch, adapted from his own cartoon strip for The Oldie, The Rebel sees Harry once again sticking two fingers up at authority, society and the vagaries of modern life. He's still of the firm belief there's no problem that can't be solved by a great tune and a quick bit of vandalism.

Also returning in this new, six-part series are Bill Paterson as former hippie Charles, Anita Dobson as charity shop worker Margaret, Anna Crilly as Henry's put-upon daughter Cath, and Frances Barber.

As their symptoms deteriorate, they ultimately end up in hospital, with Henry finding the modern day ‘customer'-orientated NHS too much to bear. Sex

A regular Northern Soul night at a local club is providing Henry with the perfect opportunity to let his hair down – and in true Brighton style that means ‘anything goes'. When a suspicious Charles then overhears a conversation between Henry and Margaret suggesting they are now an item, it looks like their friendship could be finished. Things go from bad to worse when Cath, determined to show she knows how to have fun, railroads Amaya into hosting a house party, which quickly gets out of control, ruins Jeremy's big surprise and finds Henry in a compromising position with the police.
