The Smith Family - Season 1

Mrs. Bradford looks for help from Det. Smith when she finds her daughter's (Janie Bradford) marijuana cache in their apartment. The lady is a a divorcee and former friend of Chad's. The problem is that Chad encounters his daughter, Cindy, in the apartment so he must take her in, too.

Detective Chad Smith attempts to help a young former prisoner resume a place in society. The ex-con has fallen for Cindy.

Unwittingly, a Chicano girl turns in his rebel brother when she befriends Chad's son.

When policemen become targets of crooks on the street, Betty confides to Chad she's worried about him.

Chad must play middleman between his neighbors and a group of hippies who had just moved in.

Chad meets a teen-ager who has run away from home and her affluent parents.

A murderer, recently released of prison, talks Janet into letting him wait for Chad in the Smiths' house.

Detective Chad Smith takes a desk job to ease his wife's worries and because, after he has been injured nabbing a couple of bandits, his doctor has told him it takes longer to heal at his age.

Brian sides with a an old lawman whose house is about to be torn down.

Chad comes to the assistance of a former flame whose son stands accused of car theft.

Detective Chad Smith has to train an  unpleasant rookie officer but it's not going according to plan

When vandals wreck his school, Bob resists pressure to squeal about their identities.

Detective Smith is tempted to accept a safe job as a private detective after he's injured serving a warrant.

Brian Smith's elementary school principal, noting erratic behavior in some students, suspects a drug problem and asks Chad to investigate. Evidence indicates that a bright nine year old is the schoolyard pusher and after a visit from Chad, his mother finds his pill supply. Chad is assigned to trace the chain of that supply to the adult dealer.
