Mixed race
"What are you?" is an often used opening question that doesn't always have a short and simple answer. For people with more than one racial background, identity is a lot more than one word; it's a sentence, a paragraph or a lived experience. As we become a more and more mixed race population world over, racial identity is also becoming more fluid. The series centers on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England.
