The UnXplained Special Presentation - Season 1

For thousands of years, mankind has erected countless incredible buildings, but there are a select few that appear to be more than just impressive feats of engineering. Some structures may actually be imbued with incredible powers. Do incredible structures like the Men-an-Tol Monolith or the colossal Olmec heads somehow harness mystical powers beyond our comprehension?

How do some people live through the impossible? Whether it's surviving a plane crash in a remote jungle, nearly freezing to death in the wheel well of a trans-Atlantic flight, or being struck by lightning not once, but many times...do we have a hidden reserve of inexplicable energy locked away inside us that can be released when the situation calls for it? And what can we learn from these incredible survivors who evade and even defy death itself?

From holy constructions like Noah's Ark to objects of great mystery, like the cloth Jesus was said to be buried in, could the objects described in the Bible be real, and might they truly have a connection to God? From relics like the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail, to a tower that could touch heaven, is it possible to uncover the real history of these biblical artifacts and the possible powers that they possess?

History is full of incredible individuals who prove that seemingly ordinary people can accomplish what many of us would define as impossible. We are often astonished at what can be achieved by our fellow man--from feats so incredible they appear to be "magic", to extrasensory abilities like remote viewing or enduring extreme temperatures by using one's mind--the capabilities of these individuals continue to astound and amaze us. Which begs the question, how do people develop such extraordinary abilities?

Is our world home to mysterious, dark forces that we don't fully understand? Whether it's the eerie atmosphere of a mansion that's been visited by the dead, the tomb of an ancient warlord, or even a cursed painting--are many who believe that dark, powerful energies permeate our existence. But is this all just the stuff of myth and superstition? Or is it possible that evil really does lurk all around us?

Is it possible that other intelligent species exist in the universe?  If so, is there evidence of these extraterrestrials hiding in plain sight?  From UFO sigthings by the military, to strange structures on Mars, the evidence is mounting that we may not be alone.  But if extraterrestrials exist, what are their views toward humanity? And should we see them as friend...or foe?

And why do so many people go missing in the state of Alaska? What really happened to a famous explorer who disappeared deep in the jungles of the Amazon? Could there be strange forces behind these vanishings?

Throughout human history, cultures all over the world have produced unforgettable legends that have inspired people for centuries. Is it possible that ancient stories we consider to be fictional--legends, myths, and folklore--are actually fragments of a larger historical record that's been lost? Do some mythical stories have a basis in reality? And if so, which parts of the stories are fact...and which are fiction?

Throughout history, geniuses have had a profound impact on societies all over the world. From science, to music, to mathematics, their achievements have shaped the evolution of human civilization. But how does a person become a genius? Is it something they are born with? Or is it something that can be learned? And can more clues about geniuses be found by examining the brains of extraordinary thinkers...like Albert Einstein?

Uncovering ruins from the past has been integral to our understanding of ancient civilizations. But sometimes, what remains of these cultures raise more questions than answers. For instance, why did once-great empires such as the Maya or the thriving Khmer people at Angkor Wat suddenly vanish? And what secrets lie preserved under the ashes of the Roman city of Pompeii?

What makes the criminal mind tick? From elusive imposters disguised as foreign doctors or socialites, to dangerous killers--what drives certain people to deceive and execute outrageous and daring plots? And can we learn how some elaborate crimes, like the confounding murders of San Francisco's Zodiac Killer or an ingenious escape from Alcatraz, were set into motion and ultimately pulled off?

From the very founding of the United States, there have been many bizarre--and unsolved--mysteries that continue to capture our imagination. Did a divine encounter between George Washington and an angel influence a great victory in the American Revolution? What was the strange, green glow that seemed to heal wounded soldiers during the Civil War? And could America's most notorious assassin have led a double life... after death?

Humanity has long been fascinated with the galactic worlds beyond our planet. What mysteries are yet to be solved about the surface of the Moon? And what would happen to Earth if our lunar neighbor disappear? Do the impact craters and massive scar on Mars reveal a cataclysmic history on the barren Red Planet?

Throughout human history, how we treat the dead has been as important as how we treat the living, and questions of both death and the afterlife have been at the heart of every known culture. Does how we die ? and how we're buried ? affect what happens to the soul? Is there another chapter or next plane of existence after we die? And can a human soul be reborn in another body?
