The Vindication of Shadows (2026)
Ten years ago, the Su family was wrongfully annihilated in a witchcraft scandal, leaving their eldest daughter, Su Zhaoxue, as the sole survivor. Determined to find her missing younger sister and uncover the truth, she disguises herself as a man and ventures into the capital. By a twist of fate, she joins forces with Fang Ji, an imperial censor also entangled in the case, and the two set out to Jinzhou under the guise of imperial envoys to investigate. As they peel back layers of deception, they uncover a conspiracy in which local officials exploit accusations of witchcraft to traffic illegal salt—leading them closer to the long-buried truth behind the Su family's downfall. As the investigation deepens, the true mastermind emerges: the Imperial Preceptor, whose ambitions threaten the very foundation of imperial power. Facing life-and-death trials, Su Zhaoxue and Fang Ji ultimately expose the shocking truth before the imperial court, clearing the name of her family and bringing justice to countless wronged souls. Having fulfilled their mission, the two choose to retreat from public life together.
