7am: The Federal Aviation Administration ordered flight cuts to ease the workload of air traffic controllers, many of whom have been calling out because they're not getting paid during the government shutdown. There have already been over 3,500 flights cancelled, and thousands more being delayed. Randy Babbitt, pilot and Former FAA Administrator, joins "The Weekend" to discuss.

8am: President Donald Trump is unilaterally ramping up the pressure against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro as U.S. military presence continues to grow in the Carribbean. In a rare show of bipartisanship, House Republicans and Democrats are demanding answers. Rep. Jason Crow joins The Weekend to discuss congress' concerns about military activity in the region.  

9am: The back and forth to fund SNAP food-aid payments wreaks havoc for families. The Supreme Court granted the Trump administration an emergency appeal to block full SNAP benefits, but a series of lawsuits are restoring benefits in some states. Rachel Monroe, contributing writer for "The New Yorker" joins "The Weekend" to discuss.
