When Miss Cackle refuses Mildred's request to make her mum Julie magical, angry Mildred enters the Great Wizard's broomstick-flying contest. She's determined to win a Wishing Star so she can give Julie magic herself. But Mildred is thwarted by bitter rival Ethel Hallow, and both girls are disqualified - only for Mildred to make a surprising discovery.
Double Hubble
Ethel and Miss Hardbroom make sure that Julie's first day teaching art, as Cackle's first non-magical teacher, is a humiliating disaster. Mildred is furious at the injustice and steals the confiscated Wishing Star, vowing to make her mum equal - by giving her forbidden magic.
Magic Mum
Julie has no idea how to control her amazing new magical powers, and Mildred realises she's made a terrible mistake. She's terrified Julie's secret will be discovered and they'll both be thrown out of Cackles - but Julie's having way too much fun to give up her forbidden magic now.
The Swamp Troll
Full of bitterness and resentment, Ethel is casting spells in anger - and slowly turning into an ugly swamp troll. Transformation complete, Cackles is in uproar at this hideous creature, and Miss Hardbroom banishes Troll Ethel to the forest. With Miss Bat's Wedding approaching there is still no sign of Indigo Moon. When a wedding gift of a Wishing Star arrives Mildred and Ethel hatch a plan to steal the wish to help find Indigo. This goes horribly wrong when Ethel uses the wish to summon Indigo with the intention of destroying the Academy unless Miss Hardbroom surrenders to Indigo
