Episode 1
The first edition features 61-year-old former account worker Karen, who is struggling to compete in today's job market today, while Kenny, 32, is seen by work coach Bernie to try to get him back on his feet, and ex-cleaner and grandmother Pamela Anderson is struggling to find the time to search for a job.

Episode 2
When anyone and everyone can come through their door, the dedicated team of no-nonsense job coaches at the busy public employment service always try to go the extra mile for customers, changing lives every day. Gaz, 17, has been referred to the social justice team as he is about to become homeless, while single mum Olivia, 29, has dreams of setting up her own business making ethnically diverse dolls. Also featured is Rose, who has just arrived in Leeds and is new to life on Universal Credit.

Episode 3
The team of job coaches gives advice to a 58-year-old recently made redundant from his job in IT, where he'd worked for nearly 20 years. A single mother from the Czech Republic who has recently moved to Leeds following a break-up applies for universal credit, but has to take a residence test to determine whether she will be eligible for anything.

Episode 4
Lisa, 38, has just been released from prison and is going for an interview as a work coach at the Jobcentre, and hopes this will give her the second chance she desperately needs. Ex-heroin-user Wayne is desperate to turn his life around and has been referred to work coach Pip on the social justice team, while 48-year-old Justin has worked for many years in marketing and media, but has turned to the public employment service for advice about becoming a self-employed taxi driver.

Episode 5
More from life behind the scenes at a busy public employment service. Penny used to run a multimillion pound retail chain in Nigeria with her husband, but since their divorce the 49-year-old has found herself living in Leeds on universal credit. Lindsey in the social justice team helps Dean prepare for a test which, if he passes, could lead to a job in the construction industry, while Afghan asylum seeker Zaref not only does needs a job, but has to earn more than £18,600 to bring his wife to the U.

Episode 6
This episode of the documentary follows Ray, a 63-year-old piano tuner who has been coming to the Jobcentre for two years, but his struggles with technology are making his job search difficult to keep up with. Suraya used to work in beauty, before leaving to be a full-time mum for 16 years. Now that her children are grown up, the 48-year-old wants to get back into the industry, but it has evolved more than she'd imagined. Elsewhere, 50-year-old Neil was made redundant eight months ago and is using his savings to get by. He does voluntary work in the community, but needs a paid job to cover his mortgage.
