Dette var året da Arne Treholt ble arrestert mistenkt for spionasje, breakdancen kom til Norge og det norske folk begynte å kjøpe vannsenger… Det skulle gå enda noen år før Anne Grete Preus debuterte som solo-artist. I 1984 var hun vokalist i Can Can, en viktig gruppe i norsk rock i sin samtid. Skiskytter Eirik Kvalfoss gjorde det skarpt på hele 80-tallet, og 1984 var et særdeles godt år, både for ham og den norske skisporten. Under OL i Sarajevo tok han tre medaljer: gull på 10 kilometer, sølv på stafetten og bronse på 20 kilometer. Rita Westvik var programleder for ”Lørdagssirkuset”, et direktesendt talkshow med gjester og reportasjer fra inn- og utland. Slikt var ikke hverdagskost på Norges eneste tv-kanal.
